ROOM 5 - NEW CYCLOBE LP OUT NOW

“Wounded Galaxies Tap at the Window”, the third album by my group Cyclobe, is available now from our website. It's been five years in the making, and Ossian and I are very proud of it indeed. The initial release is vinyl-only, with a CD to follow before Chrixxxmas. It can be obtained for £16.00 from us, in white vinyl, and for a limited time only includes a third insert featuring a prose accompaniment to the music by Geoff Cox-Dorée. Two more inserts, available with all copies of the record, feature photographic works by Alex Rose and a photo portrait of Cyclobe by Ruth Bayer. An excellent and highly positive review of the album has been posted by Anthony D'Amico at the long-established music and alternative arts website Brainwashed.

The cover image, as seen above, is an artwork by one of our all-time favourite artists, Fred Tomaselli, who very kindly gave his permission for this picture to be used on the Wounded Galaxies cover. He currently has an exhibition taking place at New York's Brooklyn Museum, which features many of his stunning, hallucinatory and brilliantly original multi-media creations.

We've been privileged to work with several of our close friends and favourite musicians on this record. Thighpaulsandra, whose inventiveness and compositional prowess in Coil is frequently underestimated, plays piano on the track ‘Sleeper’ - Michael J. York contributes gorgeous keening textures on traditional woodwind instrument the duduk, while Cliff Stapleton's mesmeric and beautiful hurdy-gurdy is a prominent feature on several tracks. We're also thrilled to work with our friend John Contreras, who plays cello (not always recognisably!) on the longest composition, ‘The Woods Are Alive With the Smell of His Coming’.

  1. Hi Stephen - I am currently plowing through your tome, Nightmare U.S.A. What can I say? I almost want to be through it, cover to cover, just so I can file it between my 2 vintage copies of Kim Newman's NIGHTMARE MOVIES, same shelf as INCREDIBLY STRANGE FILMS. Like the Re/Search latter, your bench-presser is giving me a new appreciation of exploitation as a form of no-holds-barred Outsider art, which is maybe why when we see outsider art in the mainstream, we mentally wistfully project the exploitation canon. I have a few slasher lore bones to pick with you, is that alright? I'm roaring at your book! It's great, and invites response! I also have a photogenic cat! Horror is a drug - let's form a support group. :) davidjmcmillanatgmaildotcom.

  2. Hi Steve.. please let me know about the CD release of "Wounded Galaxies.." As I live in the extreme south of the world, a vinyl can only arrive here into pieces!.. can´t wait to hear Cyclobe´s new masterpiece..

  3. Patricio, hi there, we're arranging the CD mastering next week and I hope we'll be making a CD available very early next year. Before that, the album will probably be available as a download - we're testing the waters on that idea, check out our Cyclobe website for info as soon as we have it. (www.cyclobe.com)

By the way, we regularly ship to Australia and Japan without difficulty - where are you? 'Extreme South' sounds very glamorous - are you on Anatarctica? We're desperate to crack the difficult Antarctic market! :-)

  4. Jaja.. sounds glamorous, but is not.. I live in the closest country to Antartica, Chile, south area.. and is very difficult to get a vinyl player too (maybe a gramophon is easier?).. Anyway, I already order "The Eclipser" trough dotdotdot, trying to test if arrives intact being smaller, and if is possible to get the way to convert it to a digital format.. But I don´t want to take the risk with Wounded Galaxies..! I´ve been waiting for this album for so long!... Maybe, because in my country we live so close to myths and beasts, magical music as Cyclobe´s become such an important event to be experienced... Thanks a lot for your answer and the good news!.. Cordiales saludos..
